Deep dive under the hood of Shibari. Come be part of a group committed to opening the engine hood and taking a deeper dive examining the world of Shibari.

We all dream of taking classes to learn how to tie — but how does the Shibari actually work? Our aim is to dig into the mechanics, fundamental ideas, foundational concepts, and guiding philosophies of Shibari, and perhaps expel some mythology surrounding this art.
This private session is a two hour deep dive, led by DemonSix and hosted by Kodai-Artist

Style of interaction:
Similar to an Un-Conference, a participant led workshop. Participants will all be asked to contribute topics and we will vote on which themes get explored…but be prepared. If your topic is selected by the group, YOU will be asked to lead the exploration. This will be a DEEP dive and discussion spread out over 6 months. How this works and how deep we go depends on you.

Who is this communal class for?
Participants ideally that have completed the “Ishi-Rock” Suspension vetting process or that have more than 1 year of tying experience. If you do not fulfill these requirements then you will be asked to observe, as some techniques and concepts may be too advanced. This is not a how too, but a why too. Pack up your mental tool bag and bring your ropes, as we learn how to fly TOGETHER.

Preference bring the people you you like to Collaborate with. All inputs from Rope Tops. Rope Bottoms, and all like minded rope minded enthusiast are welcome and you will be participating. These cohort classes are dependent on the participation of ALL.

Details:

  • Every 3rd Thursday for the next 6 months.
  • CLASS TIME IS 7:30- 9:30pm. DOORS OPEN AT 7pm FOR CHECK-IN and socializing while you get comfortable Session starts promptly at 7:30pm. Doors Lock at 7:45pm.
  • Cost: $10 each cash. $15 if digital currency. This covers the cost of a communal dinner from a local fastfood restaurant. Note: If you have special dietary needs please handle them personally.
  • What to bring: Your ropes and a rope bottom to practice or explore on. Rope partners are preferred but not required. We have inanimate substitutes ready to be tied. If you come to the class without a partner we will NOT pair you up.

Welcome

These classes are at a spacious 4000 square foot working art studio, in Long Beach. They are designed for those interested in learning the basics of Japanese rope bondage. Come and discover the beauty and cultural richness of Shibari as you explore your creativity and sensuality.

Available:

  • Water bottles, and snacks will be offered free of charge
  • We have MANY soft mats for tying on.
  • Emergency supplies will be on site in the form of safety shears and a first aid kit.

Photography will only be allowed for reference. When taking photos please always make sure you no one else is in the frame. Do not take pictures of the instructors or other guests.
Be respectful towards other guests

PARKING: Do NOT park in any of the parking lots. They will TOW even if you have a handicap sign! Park on the streets. There is no 2 hour time limit that late at night. Do not leave anything visible in your car. Unfortunately, CA has changed.
